Early New Mexico
License Plates
Fifth Edition
Online eBook
There’s nothing like the feel and appearance of a real book with pages you can turn, and a cover to admire on your bookshelf. All five editions of the Early New Mexico License Plates book were made in this manner, beginning with the First Edition in 2012. But with the Fifth Edition being over 600 pages and weighing more than five pounds, the cost of printing and bookbinding has reached $150 per copy for the relatively small quantities that are made with each printing. For that reason we’ve brought out the newly updated and revised Fifth Edition as an eBook, for personal use only, on the NMplates.com website where it can be read online, and/or downloaded to your own computer to be read there. The eBook is a fully searchable PDF file. You will need either Adobe Reader (a free download from Adobe), or Adobe Acrobat to read the book. Since this is the first release of the Fifth Edition in eBook form we still have additional work to do. First and foremost, we plan to make all of the page references in the Index clickable links so that simply clicking on that page number will take you directly to that page. But with almost 2,000 of these references in the Index, it will take us some time to get there. In the meantime, there are two easy ways you can find what you’re looking for. Either way, while viewing the eBook, first enter Ctrl-F and a search box will appear. Then: 1. Enter a term in the search box and press Enter. If it doesn’t take you there automatically, click the little forward or backward arrows next to the search box to find occurrences of the term. For example, if you want to read about the new Pollinator Protection plate, enter the word “pollinator” and used the forward/backward arrows to find each place where the word is referenced. or: 2. You can use the book’s Index, along with the table which cross references the book page numbers to the PDF page numbers. Start by going to the Index at PDF page 455. To do that enter 455 in the page number box and press Enter. Then: Look up the desired subject in the index. Make a note of the book page number given. Go to the cross reference table on PDF page 471 by entering 471 in the page number box and pressing Enter. Type the noted book page number in the search box and click the forward arrow. This will take you the cross reference for the PDF page number. Type the given PDF page number in the page number box and press Enter. You will now be on the desired page. The Title Page, Table of Contents and Index don’t have chapter numbers, but they are at PDF pages 1, 3 and 455, respectively. If you come across any irregularities while using the eBook—broken links, typographical errors, etc.— please let us know. IMPORTANT NOTE: We’ve tested the eBook on Chrome, Internet Explorer and Firefox. All work as intended except that the links to the photo pages are not live in Firefox. You can download the book with Firefox and the links will work fine once you’re reading the book from the file on your own computer. We’re still working to resolve this glitch. Chrome and Internet Explorer both seem to be working fine for both reading online and downloading. To read the book on line, and/or to download it to your computer, click: here |
