Dog Tags
Dog tags nowadays serve primarily as proof of
rabies vaccination, and as a means to assist in returning lost pets to
their owners, but in the early part of the twentieth century many cities
required that people obtain a license in order to even own a dog. The
owner received a paper license and the dog was given a metal license—in
other words, a dog tag—to be attached to the collar. If you have any New Mexico dog tags for years before 1980 for towns not illustrated here, please Contact us! |
