Balloon Plate Varieties
| Balloon passenger plates were issued in eight different varieties, the first six of which were issued only in 1999, mostly with initial expirations in the year 2000. The seventh type was initially issued in 1999 and continued until balloon plates were superseded by the turquoise plate after it was introduced in 2010. The eighth type came about only when a balloon replacement was requested for an existing yucca plate and the MVD chose to reuse the same serial number as had been on the yucca plate. A number of non-passenger plate types were also issued on the balloon base. |
